During an interview with a Spanish radio show on Thursday, President Joe Biden inadvertently referred to Hispanic illegal immigrants as “voters” while discussing the escalating crisis at the southern border.
“It’s even a bigger influx now in terms of Hispanic voters, or Hispanic – Hispanic citizens, who want to become citizens,” President Biden remarked while conversing with the host of the radio show Chiquibaby.
Biden says Hispanic immigration to the U.S. is "a little bit like back in the 1840s and the great exodus of Ireland":

In the same discussion, Biden drew parallels between the current immigration levels and the 1840s Irish migration to the United States spurred by famine and persecution.
Describing the current situation, Biden likened it to “a little bit like back in the 1840s and the great exodus of Ireland, because of the famine and the way Irish Catholics were treated. They said no, no, we don’t need any more of those folks. There was a large influx.”

“The Hispanic community is part of the future of America,” Biden continued. “Twenty-eight out of every 100 students in school speak Spanish, the idea that you’re gonna ignore that? That’s our future. One of the reasons that we’re growing so much is we have a significant influx of immigrants coming into our country, only reason our economy’s so good. We’re not a xenophobic nation. Other nations are, we’re not, that’s why our economy is the best in the world.”
However, Biden’s error in labeling Hispanic illegal immigrants as “voters” triggered backlash on social media, with many interpreting it as a Freudian slip and suggesting it unveiled his political agenda.
Responding to the outcry, a White House spokesperson clarified to Fox News that, “Only American citizens can vote in federal elections. As fact checkers across the board have made clear, it is already illegal for noncitizens to vote in federal elections.”
As illegal immigration continues to surge to unprecedented levels under Biden’s administration, and border patrol faces constraints in effectively enforcing border regulations, critics assert that it is a calculated tactic to bolster support for the Democratic Party and potentially influence future elections through imported votes.
