Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) took action on Friday by filing articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden for “soliciting a ‘quid pro quo’ with Israel” through the suspension of congressionally approved military aid to the nation.

In a statement released on Friday, Mills asserted, “In violation of his oath to faithfully execute the office of President and to uphold the Constitution, President Biden abused the powers of his office by soliciting a ‘quid pro quo’ with Israel while leveraging vital military aid for policy changes.”

Mills further elaborated, “This egregious action not only compromised the credibility of the United States but also undermined the interests of our longstanding ally, Israel. Therefore, President Biden’s conduct warrants impeachment, trial, removal from office, and disqualification from holding any future office under the United States.”

The articles drafted for the resolution stated, in part, “Using the powers of his high office, President Biden solicited a ‘quid pro quo’ with the foreign government of Israel by withholding precision-guided weapons shipments in order to try and extract military policy changes. President Biden sought to pressure the Government of Israel to take steps by conditioning official United States Government acts of significant value to Israel.”

Furthermore, the articles indicated, “After initial reports surfaced, President Biden confirmed them and openly stated ‘I made it clear that if they go into Rafah – they haven’t gone in Rafah yet – if they go into Rafah, I’m not supplying the weapons that have been used historically to deal with Rafah, to deal with the cities – that deal with that problem.’ In so doing, President Biden used the powers of the Presidency in a manner that compromised the national security of the United States and its ally Israel. He thus ignored and injured the interests of the Nation.”

The articles of impeachment echo those brought against former President Donald Trump over the withholding of congressionally approved aid to Ukraine. Trump faced impeachment by the House in 2019 on similar grounds. Mills underscored the parallels with the impeachment articles against Trump in 2019, stating, “These are the same accusations made against President Trump, which resulted in his impeachment by Democrats. The same must happen for Joe Biden, which is why we’re drawing up articles of impeachment now,” in a statement to Fox.
