Kamala Harris has called Donald Trump to formally concede in the U.S. presidential election. A senior adviser to the vice president reported that during the conversation, Harris highlighted “the importance of a peaceful transfer of power” and emphasized “being a president for all Americans.”

Joe Biden also reached out to Trump to congratulate him on his victory and extended an invitation to the White House for a transition meeting, reports the Associated Press. “Biden expressed his commitment to ensuring a smooth transition and emphasized the importance of working to bring the country together,” the White House stated. Biden also called Harris to commend her on her “historic campaign.”

Trump secured a decisive win, surpassing the necessary 270 electoral votes to secure the presidency. He described his victory as “an unprecedented and powerful mandate.”

Celebrating his win in Palm Beach, Florida, Trump addressed his supporters, saying, “We’re going to help our country heal. We have a country that needs help, and it needs help very badly. We’re going to fix our borders. We’re going to fix everything about our country, and we’ve made history for a reason tonight.” He reiterated his commitment to tackling illegal immigration and declared a “golden age of America.”

He added, “This is a magnificent victory for the American people that will allow us to ‘make America great again,'” as the crowd erupted into chants of “USA, USA, USA!”

After the Republican Party gained control of the Senate from the Democrats, Trump noted, “America has given us an unprecedented and powerful mandate. We have taken back control of the Senate. Wow. That’s great.”

Trump’s path to victory began when he was declared the winner in the battleground state of North Carolina. Soon after, he took Georgia, a state he narrowly lost to Biden in 2020. His win in Pennsylvania, considered the most crucial of the seven swing states, followed shortly after. Trump’s return to the White House was confirmed after he won Wisconsin, which pushed him over the 270 electoral vote threshold needed to secure the presidency.
