CNN’s Data Guru Drops Bombshell On VP Harris’ Campaign

CNN senior data reporter Harry Enten had some devastating news for Democrat presidential nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris.

The data analyst said that the former president is doing better in swing states in this election than he did in 2020 against President Joe Biden.

“You’ve got a lot of red on this screen, this is pretty good news for Donald Trump … You take it all together in these three key battleground states, two of which [President] Joe Biden carried 4 years ago, we see that Donald Trump is ahead and by an average of 4 points, significantly better than he did back in 2020 across all of these states,” the data analyst said.

He said a massive part of the president’s increased popularity has to do with his gain of voters, from 16 percent in 2020 to 20 percent in 2024, for how he is doing in this election.

“If you know anything about those Sun Belt battleground states, it’s that they are more diverse than those Great Lake battleground states,” said Enten. “In the Southwest, they’re more Hispanic than they are nationwide, in the South, Southeast, North Carolina and Georgia, they are more African American than they are nationwide. And I think the real question here is, what does this mean for the electoral map because that’s what we’re all interested in and look folks, it’s just as tight as it can possibly be.”

Forecaster Nate Silver told CNN on Friday that despite Harris’ early ‘enthusiasm’ bump followed by months of favorable press coverage and few journalists pressing her on her policies, past and future, she and Trump are locked in a toss-up race.

“With all seven states polling so closely, I don’t really have an intuition beyond what’s in our forecast, which is 50-50, almost exactly,” Silver told CNN.

“Look clearly, Harris has some kind of momentum post-debate. The thing that would worry me a little bit if I were Democrat is that she had the same momentum earlier on in the campaign and then had a very flat to negative period afterwards,” he continued.

“So, can she sustain the good vibe, so to speak, that she had before? You know, to me, Trump seems pretty off-kilter recently. It’s a bit more subjective,” he said.

“But we’re not going to wake up on November 5 with a lot of certainty about the outcome. We might not go to bed on November 5 with a lot of certainty, either. You could even have a recount 2020 style or 2000 style, rather, in one or more key swing states,” he added.

CNN anchor Anderson Cooper also said last week that he is skeptical of polls showing Harris in the lead, citing past underestimations of Trump’s support in 2016 and 2020.
