Vice President JD Vance was furious on Saturday after he and his child were chased and harassed by pro-Ukraine protesters.
He shared the story on his X account with a strong message to those who would harass kids as part of their activism.
“Today while walking my 3 year old daughter a group of ‘Slava Ukraini’ protesters followed us around and shouted as my daughter grew increasingly anxious and scared,” the vice president said in the post.
“I decided to speak with the protesters in the hopes that I could trade a few minutes of conversation for them leaving my toddler alone. (Nearly all of them agreed.),” he said.
“It was a mostly respectful conversation, but if you’re chasing a 3-year-old as part of a political protest, you’re a shit person,” he said.
The vice president took a swipe at Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky after he had a contentious meeting with President Donald Trump and himself in the Oval Office last month.
He advised the Ukrainian president that he should rethink his position after losing the support of a staunch ally in Republican South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham.
“Well, I’ve got to imagine that they’re probably rethinking it. What did you make of European leaders, you know, quote, their voices of solidarity this weekend? Because it’s Lindsey Graham who’s been very supportive of Ukraine in this conflict,” Fox News host Sean Hannity said to the vice president.
“I mean he was livid. Yes. And he said if they want to now defend their own continent, let them go ahead and do it. Good luck to them,” he said before Vance responded.
“Yeah and my message to Ukrainians, by the way, to President Zelensky is when you’ve lost Lindsey Graham, that means you need to come to the negotiating table and recognize Donald Trump is the only game in town. He’s the only person who I think has a meaningful plan to save that country. But, you know, Sean, here’s the problem with the Europeans,” the vice president said.
