After Kamala Harris’ keynote speech at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday night, president Donald Trump spoke with Fox News, questioning why Harris, as Vice President, hasn’t addressed the issues she promises to tackle in a Harris-led administration.
“Why didn’t she do the things that she’s complaining about? All of these things that she talked about, ‘We’re gonna do this, we’re gonna do that, we’re gonna do everything,’ but she didn’t do any of it. She could have done it three and a half years ago,” Trump said in a phone interview following Harris’ speech.

Trump suggested that Harris could address these issues immediately, stating, “She could do it tonight by leaving the auditorium and going to Washington, DC and closing the border. She doesn’t need a bill, I didn’t have a bill. I closed the border and created the safest border we’ve ever had in the history of our country.”
He continued, “She could have done all of these things and she could still do them,” noting that Harris has about five months left before inauguration day and the end of the Biden-Harris administration.
Trump criticized Harris’ speech as “a lot of complaining” and pointed out topics she did not cover, including China, fracking, crime, poverty in the US, and child trafficking. He also claimed that, as border czar, Harris has overseen “the weakest border in the history of this country,” describing the situation at the southern border as “an invasion.”

Trump further criticized Harris for declining to participate in a debate with him on September 4, which was organized by Fox News. He said, “I was going to debate on September 4, but she turned it down. And I’m willing to debate her on — I don’t like ABC, I think ABC is probably the worst of the group, but I’m willing to do ABC. I was willing to do CNN with Joe Biden and you saw what happened there.”
The conversation was eventually cut short as the hosts transitioned to another segment.
