The Democrats and their presidential nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris, along with the media are insinuating that former President Donald Trump called for former Wyoming Republican Rep. Liz Cheney to face a firing squad.
To anyone who heard his actual quote, this would be a ridiculous assessment of what he said, but he still chose to explain what he said when he spoke to reporters who questioned him about it.
When speaking to reporters he explained the comments.
“I don’t blame him for sticking with his daughter,” he said of former Vice President Dick Cheney when he was interviewed by former Fox News host Tucker Carlson. “But his daughter is a very dumb individual, very dumb. She’s a radical war hawk. Let’s put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her, okay? Let’s see how she feels about it, you know, when the guns are trained on her face.”
“They’re all war hawks when they’re sitting in Washington in a nice building saying, ‘Oh gee, let’s send 10,000 troops into the mouths of the enemies.’ She always wanted to go to war with people. I don’t blame Dick Cheney for sticking with his daughter, but I was a little surprised that he didn’t come with me. She’s a bad person,” he said in the comments that were seized on by his opponents and the media.
“She’s a war hawk. She kills people,” he said. “Even in my administration, she was pushing that we to go to war with everybody. I said if you give her a rifle and let her do the fighting, she wouldn’t be doing too well, I will tell you right now. But she’s a war hawk, she wants to kill people unnecessarily and if she had to do it herself, if she had to face the consequences of battle, she wouldn’t be doing it. So it is easy for her to talk, but she wouldn’t be doing it. She is actually a disgrace.”
