The man picked by President-elect Donald Trump to be border czar, Tom Homan, takes the issue of illegal immigration very personally.
On Friday he got emotional when he spoke about his reasons for being so tough on the crisis.
“A lot of people ask me why I get so emotional … why I scream at members of Congress,” he said during an appearance on Fox News. “[It’s] because I’ve seen so much tragedy, I’ve talked to hundreds of angel moms and dads who’ve buried their children who’ve been killed by illegal aliens.”
“I’ve talked to little girls that are as young as nine years old who were raped multiple times by members of cartels. When you look in her eyes, everything innocent and pure has been ripped from her soul, and her life will never be the same,” he said as he began to get teary eyed. “I’m tired of it.
He said that the administration of President Joe Biden failed families like that of Laken Riley who was murdered by Jose Ibarra, an illegal immigrant who came to the United States during the Biden presidency.
“If President Trump was president [when Ibarra tried to cross the border], he’d be sitting in Mexico for the ‘Remain in Mexico’ program,” he said.
He also spoke about sanctuary states and cities and said that they will not get in his way.
“You’re not going to stop us doing what we’re going to do,” Homan noted.
“We’ll move them to a state where we can detain them,” the next border czar said. “There are plenty of sheriffs across this country who are willing to give us empty beds. They want the funding, and we can put them in jail all across the country.”
“We’ll have no problem finding a place to detain these people,” said Homan. “It’s going to cost money, so we’ve got to have the money to do it, but President Trump’s going to do everything he can to make sure we have the funds to do this. So, they will be arrested, detained, put on an airplane and go home.”
