The suspect in the shocking murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson reportedly used a fake ID to check into a New York City hostel prior to the crime, according to police sources cited by Fox News.
The suspect allegedly paid for the stay in cash, raising further questions about their efforts to avoid detection. On Thursday, Fox News Digital captured footage of officers leaving the AYH Hostel on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, although it remains unclear if the location is directly linked to the ongoing investigation.
Evidence Left Behind
The New York Police Department has been searching for the suspect since the early hours of Wednesday. According to police sources, the killer left behind a burner phone in an alley near the scene of the murder. Authorities are analyzing data from the phone and attempting to match fingerprints found on the device.
Investigators are also examining a water bottle abandoned at a nearby Starbucks, which the suspect is believed to have purchased with cash. DNA from the bottle is being used to create a suspect profile.
