Republican Speaker Of The House and Louisiana Rep. Mike Johnson shared a frightening story of a conversation he had with President Joe Biden which has many people wondering who has been in charge of the nation during his presidency.
“He has not been in charge for some time — and I know this by personal observation, and now the whole world knows it, and it’s been very concerning to me,” he said during the “Honestly” podcast when he spoke to host Bari Weiss.
He confirmed the reporting in a June 2024 Wall Street Journal story that explained how the speaker reacted to Biden’s mental state when he met with him at the White House in February 2024 about sending military aid to Ukraine.
Johnson said that he told the president that he was concerned with his executive order that froze U.S. exports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) which he believed would cause European nations to rely on Russia’s supply of gas and fund his war with Ukraine.
“And I said, ‘Mr. President, yes, you did — it was an executive order three weeks ago.’ And he says, ‘I didn’t do that.’ He’s arguing with me,” the Speaker said. “I say, ‘Mr. President, respectfully, can I go out there and ask your secretary to print it out while we are here together — you definitely did that.’ He goes, ‘Oh, you’re talking about natural gas!’”
Johnson also said that Biden contended that he only signed an executive order to study the effects of LNG but the Speaker explained that the order actually banned the export of LNG.
Biden insisted that was not what the report said, but Johnson said he would be willing to get it printed by Biden’s secretary and read it with him.
“It occurred to me, Bari, he was not lying to me. He genuinely did not know what he signed. And I walked [back] into that meeting with fear and loathing because I thought, ‘We’re in serious trouble — who’s running the country? Like, I don’t know who put the paper in front of him but he didn’t know,” Johnson noted.
