As the nation approaches another Christmas and New Year’s with the COVID pandemic many are asking questions about gatherings.
And Dr. Anthony Fauci has chimed in with his advice on what to do with unvaccinated people who may attend your events.
“If someone in your family isn’t vaccinated should you ask them not to show up?” MSNBC host Alicia Menendez said.
“Yes,” the doctor said. “I would do that.”
He said that there is “a serious enough situation right now that if there’s an unvaccinated person I would say, ‘I’m very sorry, but not this time. Maybe another time when this is all over.'”

There was fury on Twitter to Fauci’s idea that family members should shun other family members.
“No. This is not how families work,” Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said.

But that is not all. During a White House briefing, Dr. Fauci said, vaccinated, boosted, or not, you should avoid large gatherings.
“Now, one of the questions that Dr. Walensky and I and Dr. Murthy and others get asked very frequently is that, right now, as we get to the Christmas holiday and the New Year’s, would it be safe for individuals who are vaccinated, who are boosted to get together with family in the setting of the home? The answer to that is: Yes. An extra level of protection would be the testing that Dr. Walensky mentioned,” he said.
“But I want to make sure this is not confused with going to a large gathering — and there are many of these — parties that have 30, 40, 50 people in which you do not know the vaccination status of individuals. Those are the kind of functions — in the context of COVID and particularly in the context of Omicron — that you do not want to go to.
“So, to the extent possible, we urge you to stay away from those situations that could put you at a higher risk,” he said.
He made similar statements when he appeared on the NBC News show “Meet The Press.”
“If you’re vaccinated and you’re boosted, and you take care when you go into congregate settings like airports to make sure you continually wear your mask, you should be OK,” he said.
“We are doing better if you look now compared to where we were a year ago,” he said on CNN. “We now have multiple at-home tests available, and we virtually had none a year ago. But we do need to do better.”
