A Delta Air Lines flight crashed at Toronto Pearson Airport on Monday afternoon, resulting in multiple injuries. The incident involved a CRJ-900 jet operated by Endeavor Air, which had departed from Minneapolis as Delta 4819. The flight, carrying 80 passengers and crew, crashed while attempting to land at the airport at approximately 2:45 p.m. local time.
Initial reports from CTV revealed that the aircraft was found upside down on a snow-covered runway, with significant damage to its fuselage. Emergency responders arrived quickly, providing treatment to 15 individuals. Three of those injured were transported to local hospitals for further care.
Two of the injured were airlifted to trauma centers in Toronto—Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center and St. Michael’s Hospital—according to a spokesperson from the paramedic service. Additionally, a child, estimated to be around four years old, was taken to The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Thankfully, none of the injuries were life-threatening.
Peel Regional Paramedic Services Superintendent Lawrence Saindon spoke to Fox News Digital, saying, “Those three were critical, non-life-threatening injuries. The remaining ones are all walking wounded, with cuts and scrapes, nothing serious at all.”
Operations at Toronto Pearson Airport were temporarily suspended following the crash. However, air traffic resumed by around 5 p.m. after the runway was cleared.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the crash occurred while the plane was in the process of landing. All passengers and crew were successfully evacuated from the aircraft without further incident.
“The Transportation Safety Board of Canada will be in charge of the investigation and will provide any updates,” the FAA noted.
