ICE Sets One-Day Arrest Record as Trump Administration Targets 3,000 Daily Detentions

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) recorded its highest number of arrests in a single day on Wednesday, detaining 2,368 illegal aliens, according to a senior ICE official. The figure breaks the previous record of 2,267 arrests made just one day earlier, reflecting a sharp uptick in enforcement activity under the Trump administration.

The surge in arrests follows a White House directive to reach 3,000 daily detentions. “Under President Trump’s leadership, we are looking to set a goal of a minimum of 3,000 arrests for ICE every day,” White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller said on “Hannity” in late May, adding the figure could increase further.

The increase in activity has been linked to expanded worksite enforcement operations and a rise in immigration court arrests. ICE has also been making more collateral arrests—detaining individuals who are not initially targeted but are present during enforcement actions.

“The numbers are good, but I’m not satisfied. I haven’t been satisfied all year long,” said Border Czar Tom Homan during a May appearance on “America’s Newsroom.”

According to ICE officials, enforcement levels could escalate significantly if the proposed reconciliation bill passes. The legislation includes funding for 10,000 new ICE personnel and tens of thousands of additional detention beds. ICE sources told Fox News that approval of the bill would “supercharge” arrests and “shoot [numbers] through the roof.”

White House officials are actively promoting the bill’s immigration provisions. “Did you know The Big Beautiful Bill doubles ICE detention capacity, increases ICE personnel by 50%, finishes the border wall, and taxes money illegals send to their home country?” Deputy Assistant to the President and Principal Deputy Communications Director Alex Pfeiffer posted on X. “It’s a once-in-a generation opportunity to crack down on illegal immigration,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Department of Homeland Security is advancing other immigration enforcement efforts. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem recently approved additional waivers to allow further border wall construction in Arizona and New Mexico. President Trump has also implemented a new travel ban on several countries, following the anti-Semitic terrorist attack in Boulder by a suspect who had overstayed a visa.
