The Maine Principals’ Association announced that it would disregard President Donald Trump’s executive order that forbids biological male athletes from competing against girls, and three days later, female athletes paid the price.
A male high school student who goes by the name Katie Spencer obliterated his biologically female competition in a pole vaulting competition, jumping 11 feet to bring Greely High School a state championship, WMTV8 reported.
Women’s sports advocates were furious with the Maine Principals’ Association’s decision and the “victory” of the male student over his female counterparts.
“The decision by the Maine Principals’ Association to continue allowing male athletes to compete against female athletes in school athletic competitions is outrageous,” Republican Maine State Rep. Laurel Libby said to the Daily Caller News Foundation. “Not only does their decision violate President Trump’s February 5 Executive Order but it jeopardizes the safety and privacy of female athletes, all while allowing male athletes to take medals, trophies, and podium spots away from women, effectively erasing them.”
“I urge the Trump Administration to move swiftly to ensure that female athletes in Maine can once again compete on a level playing field, preserving the integrity of women’s sports,” she said.
“Maine just handed a GIRLS’ state pole vault title to a male athlete competing in the girls’ division. This is beyond ridiculous & an insult to every girl who’s worked their butt off to earn that title. It’s time to stop rewarding this unfairness. Pull the federal funding @PamBondi@POTUS & put a stop to this nonsense,” women’s sports advocate Kaitlynn Wheeler said on X.
“Parents across Maine—and the country—are fed up with being ignored while their daughters are forced to compete against biological males,” the conservative American Parents’ Coalition said to The Caller. “The Maine Principals’ Association’s decision isn’t just unfair; it’s an affront to every parent who expects their child to have a level playing field and is at odds with President Trump’s Executive Order protecting girls’ sports.”
“Schools should be working alongside the Administration and supporting parents, not prioritizing politics,” it said.
