President Joe Biden was pressed by reporters over his remarks last week after he appeared to have said that US troops could have boots on the ground in Ukraine and that President Vladimir Putin should be removed from power.
The White House would have to clean up after Biden’s mess and walk back what the president said, saying that he had no intention to see a regime change in Russia. He said on Monday, however, that he’s “not walking anything back.”
“The fact of the matter is I was expressing the moral outrage I felt. I want to make it clear I wasn’t then, nor am I now, articulating a policy change. I was expressing moral outrage that I feel,” said Biden. He said he had “no apologies” for his conduct and his words.
Biden now claims that he did NOT tell troops they were going to Ukraine, he did NOT suggest that the US could use a chemical weapon, and he did NOT call for regime change in Russia. pic.twitter.com/CjbEN4mxTa

The president was then pressed by Fox News reporter Peter Doocy, who asked Biden what was meant by his words when he said that Putin should be removed from power.
He also asked what was meant by Biden’s words that US troops would find themselves in combat upon Russia’s use of chemical weapons. Doocy asked: “Are you worried that other leaders in the world are going to start to doubt that America ‘is back’ if some of these big things that you say on the world stage, keep getting walked back?”
“Sounds like, in the last couple of days, it sounded like you told US troops they were going to Ukraine. It sounded like he said it was possible to use a chemical weapon. And it sounded like you were calling for a regime in Russia,” Doocy said, after Biden asked him to expound on his first question.
Biden accused Doocy of lying, saying that none of his assertions were true and that Doocy was simply “interpret[ing] the language that way.”
He said he was “talking to the troops. We’re talking about helping train the troops in the, Ukrainian troops that are in Poland. That’s the context.”
Regarding the chemical weapons, Biden told Doocy: “I’m not gonna tell you. Why would I tell you that? You’ve got to be silly.”
