On Tuesday, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy presented a video to House Republicans showcasing President Joe Biden’s denial of any involvement in impropriety associated with his family’s business engagements.
The presentation comes just a day before a whistleblower is scheduled to testify before Congress, alleging that political motives influenced the investigation into Hunter Biden, Fox News reported exclusively.
Fox News Digital obtained an exclusive video that presented a chronological sequence of Biden defending his family’s actions. But, the video concludes with IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley asserting that the IRS investigation he participated in was hindered from pursuing actions “that could have led us to President Biden.”
During scheduled testimony on Wednesday before the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, Shapley and another whistleblower are anticipated to claim that the Justice Department meddled in the IRS investigation concerning Hunter Biden and his business transactions. The hearing serves as the culmination of interrelated inquiries conducted by the Oversight, House Judiciary, and Ways & Means committees, exploring the activities of both Hunter Biden and President Biden’s brother, James Biden.
“This video is what the speaker is using to educate the broader House Republican conference on the status of the Biden family investigation,” a source familiar with McCarthy’s effort told Fox News.
The outlet added:
It signals the importance House GOP leaders are placing on the Biden investigation, which has been a top priority for Republicans since taking the House majority last year.
It’s also served as a unifying issue for what has proved to be an ideologically fractured conference. McCarthy’s video and Wednesday’s hearing come as the speaker is facing a fierce spending battle on defense and other annual appropriations, as the narrowly divided House has given a small faction of hardline conservatives greater influence over legislation.
However, the vast majority of House Republicans have remained united in their concerns regarding potential misconduct involving the president’s family members.
Recently, Hunter Biden took a plea bargain with the U.S. Attorney in Delaware, where he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor tax charges and one felony count related to firearms possession. The resolution follows an extensive investigation spanning several years, which scrutinized his foreign business ventures, including those in Ukraine and China.
During a closed-door session on Tuesday, lawmakers were presented with a two-minute video comprising news clips from the 2020 presidential debates. The video includes a segment where President Biden states that there was no unethical conduct regarding his son’s overseas endeavors. Subsequently, a news anchor clip reveals that both James and Hunter Biden were subjects of an investigation, Fox News added.
Next, President Biden is seen outside the White House talking with reporters and telling them it’s “not true” that Hunter’s foreign associates wired over $1,000,000 to three of the president’s relatives.
McCarthy’s compilation additionally highlights reports indicating that U.S. banks raised concerns regarding approximately 150 transactions associated with Hunter and James Biden.
It also includes a White House statement characterizing their business dealings as “private matters.”
“Biden himself swore multiple times that he was not involved in his family’s foreign business links,” Fox News noted further.
