A woman was raped at knifepoint by an illegal immigrant in New York City near a popular beach boardwalk in Brooklyn, according to police and sources. The New York City Police Department informed Fox News Digital that the assault occurred around 9 p.m. on Sunday near Surf Avenue and West 16th Street in Coney Island, reports Fox News.
“Upon arrival, officers were informed that a 46-year-old female had been approached by two unidentified individuals who forced her to the ground by holding a knife to her throat. One of the individuals forcibly raped the victim,” an NYPD spokesperson said. “A 34-year-old male victim attempted to intervene and was struck with an object by the second individual.”
The female victim was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, while the male victim, identified by the New York Post through law enforcement sources as her boyfriend, refused medical attention.
The NYPD identified the suspects as Daniel Bonilla Davon, 24, and Leovando Moreno, 37, both of whom are homeless. An NYPD source told Fox News that Davon-Bonilla, who faces charges including first-degree rape and sexual abuse, is an illegal immigrant from Nicaragua. Moreno has been charged with second-degree assault.
The assault took place outside a hotel housing asylum seekers, and the NYPD source also revealed that Davon-Bonilla had been previously arrested in early April for a criminal sexual act.
