Former President Donald Trump narrowly escaped another assassination attempt on Sunday when a Secret Service agent discharged a firearm at an armed suspect at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The suspect was seen pushing the barrel of an AK-47 rifle through the plant-lined fence surrounding the property, just yards away from where Trump was playing golf.
The incident marks the second attempt on Trump’s life within the past two months. Fortunately, the swift action of the Secret Service agent prevented any tragedy.
The former president has been increasingly targeted by threats, which Trump and his supporters claim are a result of the growing hostile rhetoric from prominent Democrats.
Trump swiftly shifted the blame, ticking off dozens of prominent Democrats he says have incited violence against him through their persistent and aggressive public statements. He published a compilation of dozens of inflammatory quotes, asserting that Democrats and media figures have fueled the hatred that led to the attack.

One of the top Democrats on the list of those cited by Trump is Vice President Kamala Harris, who has been vocal in her opposition to the former president. Harris has referred to Trump as a “threat to democracy and fundamental freedoms” on numerous occasions.
Her statements, such as “It’s on us to recognize the threat [Trump] poses,” have drawn criticism from Trump’s supporters, who believe that such comments are not just political rhetoric but calls for action against the former president.

In one recent tweet indicative of the others, Harris wrote: “If reelected, Trump has openly said he intends to weaponize the Department of Justice against his enemies. He openly talks about his admiration for dictators and has vowed to be a dictator on day one. It’s on us to recognize the threat he poses—the choice is clear in November.”

President Joe Biden is also high atop Trump’s list of Democrats spewing dangerous rhetoric. Trump’s list highlights multiple instances where Biden has called Trump a threat, including quotes like, “Trump is a genuine threat to this nation” and “Trump and MAGA Republicans are a threat to the very soul of this country.”

In addition to Harris and Biden, Democrats such as Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO), and Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) have publicly described Trump and his supporters as dangerous or existential threats to American democracy.
