Former President Donald Trump has responded to the accusations made by his former White House Chief of Staff, Gen. John Kelly.
The general said that he heard the former president say that he wanted to have generals like those that Hitler had.
“He commented more than once that, ‘You know, Hitler did some good things, too,’” he said to The New York Times but said that he would stop those conversations by saying, “nothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good.”
In an interview with The Atlantic, he said that the former president said he needed “German generals.”
“Surely you can’t mean Hitler’s generals,” the former Chief of Staff said that he said to the former president who allegedly responded, “Yeah, yeah, Hitler’s generals.”
The general said that the former president also disparaged American soldiers.
When the former president spoke to FOX News national correspondent Bill Melugin he denied everything that Kelly said.
“I want to give you a chance to respond to your former chief of staff, John Kelly, directly. He said some things about you, essentially accusing you of disparaging American soldiers in an Atlantic article. When’s the last time you talked to him, and how would you like to respond?” the reporter asked.
“Years ago. I fired him. He was a bully. He was a bad guy. And he ended up being a weak guy, because all bullies end up being weak. And he wasn’t a smart guy. It’s a bad combination. But I fired him. He made a statement that I’m like Hitler. It just couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s just the opposite, actually,” the former president said.
And the accusations have not appeared to effect the former president as polls show him in a strong place heading into Election Day.
With the 2024 election just two weeks away, new early voting data from key Florida counties reveals a significant shift that could impact the presidential race.
Traditionally Democratic strongholds, these counties are showing unexpected Republican leads in early voting figures—potentially benefiting former President Donald Trump as he campaigns against Vice President Kamala Harris in this crucial lead-up to Election Day.
The data indicates that Republicans have gained ground in several prominent Florida counties, with early voting results highlighting surprising Republican leads in historically blue areas. Here’s the current breakdown as of day 2 of early voting:
- Duval County: R+4.6
- Miami-Dade County: R+12.8
- Palm Beach County: R+17.2
- Hillsborough County: R+15.4
- Pinellas County: R+25.5
