The CBP One app, previously used by illegal immigrants to submit advance information and schedule asylum appointments at designated ports of entry, is no longer operational, according to an announcement by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Effective at noon on Monday, coinciding with President Trump’s swearing-in ceremony for his second term, all existing appointments were canceled, reports KFOX.

Immediately following his inauguration, Trump declared a national emergency at the southern border. Among the first actions of his administration were reinstating the “Remain in Mexico” policy and terminating the practice of “catch and release.”

In El Paso, Texas, the downtown port of entry was temporarily closed just before Trump’s oath of office. Law enforcement officers armed with riot shields blocked entry and issued stern warnings to individuals on the Mexican side of the border. Using loudspeakers, officers announced in both English and Spanish that any attempts to cross the border would result in arrest, prosecution, and potential use of force.

Trump has outlined an ambitious first-day agenda, including signing over 200 executive orders addressing illegal immigration, rolling back diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, boosting domestic energy production, and eliminating federal government waste.

“Today, I will sign a series of historic executive orders. With these actions, we will begin the complete restoration of America and the revolution of common sense,” Trump declared in his inaugural address. He emphasized his administration’s focus on immigration enforcement, stating, “All illegal entry will immediately be halted, and we will begin the process of returning millions and millions of criminal aliens back to the places from which they came. We will reinstate my Remain in Mexico policy.”
