Texas Governor Condemns Arson by Illegal Immigrant, Will Work With Trump to ‘Locate And Deport’

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has strongly criticized Pedro Luis Parra Pulgar, a Venezuelan man accused of attempting to kill his three children by setting their home on fire. Abbott also pledged to collaborate with President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming administration to enforce stricter immigration policies and ensure the deportation of criminal offenders.

Pulgar, 46, has been charged with three counts of attempted murder following the November 6 incident at his Fulshear, Texas, residence. Authorities allege he deliberately started the fire while his three young children were inside the home.

It remains unclear whether Pulgar entered the United States legally. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has yet to respond to inquiries from Fox News Digital regarding his legal status. Abbott described Pulgar’s status as “unknown” but demanded severe consequences for the alleged crime.

“A Venezuelan immigrant – legal status unknown – is accused of setting a Texas house on fire with three children inside,” Abbott wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “He better spend the rest of his life behind bars.”

The Republican governor also reaffirmed his commitment to working with Tom Homan, Trump’s designated “border czar,” to locate and deport illegal immigrants who engage in criminal activity, Fox News reports.

All three of Pulgar’s children survived the fire. However, the youngest, a three-year-old, was severely affected by smoke inhalation and had to be airlifted to a hospital. The child has since been released following treatment. The other two children sustained minor injuries while escaping the blaze.

Pulgar himself suffered significant injuries from the fire. After receiving treatment in a hospital, he was taken into custody and booked into the Fort Bend County Jail, where his bond has been set at $2.25 million.

The fire caused extensive damage to the house, adding to the gravity of the incident. Abbott used the case as an example of why tougher immigration enforcement is needed, emphasizing that criminal activity by immigrants—whether legal or illegal—must be addressed to protect public safety.

Abbott concluded his statement by reiterating his intent to support Trump’s administration in deporting as many criminal offenders as possible.
