A Tennessee grand jury has indicted 31st Judicial District Attorney General Christopher Robert Stanford for allegedly firing shots during a fugitive pursuit, striking a home occupied by a woman and three children, according to state officials.
On Monday, the DeKalb County grand jury charged Stanford with one count of reckless endangerment, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) revealed in a press release.
“The investigation revealed that, during the pursuit of a wanted fugitive, Stanford fired a gun several times on Bell Street in Smithville, striking a home occupied by a woman and her three children,” the TBI statement said.
The indictment, obtained by Fox News Digital, asserts that Stanford “unlawfully, intentionally and recklessly” discharged his firearm. The shots struck a chair on the home’s front porch and penetrated a living room wall, putting the residents in danger of death or serious injury. Fortunately, no one inside the home was harmed.
The fugitive Stanford was pursuing, Caleb Brookins, is linked to a triple homicide that occurred on Nov. 20 in Warren County, Tennessee. The incident involving Stanford unfolded on Nov. 21 when Brookins was being apprehended on outstanding warrants.
According to Bryant Dunaway, 13th Judicial District Attorney, the pursuit was related to actions involving Hannah Rose, who allegedly drove Brookins in a vehicle to evade capture.
