Democrats in Bucks County, Pennsylvania have decided to ignore a court decision and count votes that they were told not to count.
Bucks County Democrat commissioners voted on Thursday to allow ballots to be counted that were undated and misdated as defeated Democratic Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey prepares for a recount in the contest in which he was defeated Republican Senator-elect Dave McCormick,” The Daily Caller reported.
Bucks County Commissioners Diane Ellis-Marseglia said during the vote that “precedent by a court doesn’t matter anymore in this country” because “people violate laws anytime they want.”
“For me, if I violate this law, it’s because I want a court to pay attention to it,” she said.
Centre County, Philadelphia County and Montgomery County also voted to allow undated or misdated ballots to be counted and the Republican candidate has filed lawsuits, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
“Various county boards are seeking to alter the rules of the election at the thirteenth hour,” Republican National Committee attorneys said.
“By counting undated and misdated ballots for the 2024 General Election, they are disobeying this court’s commands many times over,” the attorneys said. “At best, they are confused; at worst, they are openly defying the authority of this court.”
Attorneys for the Republican candidate appealed the decision by Bucks County on Wednesday.
“The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has clearly prohibited this action,” the attorneys said.
One of the people behind the recount efforts in Pennsylvania is a Democrat attorney famous for his involvement in the Steele Dossier, Marc Elias.
McCormick’s campaign said that they are not concerned by the last minute Democrat shenanigans and are confident that when the smoke clears their candidate will be the new senator from Pennsylvania.
“There is one impossible truth to all of this,” the campaign’s lead strategist Mark Harris said. “When counting is done, Dave will be winning by tens of thousands of votes. It will not be close.”
