Stacey Abrams’s Staff Member Cheers On Violence Against Police

A Stacey Abrams staffer defended anti-police activism, including the setting ablaze of police vehicles, this weekend in Atlanta.

Marisa Pyle, a senior rapid response manager for Abrams’ Fair Fight Action and senior manager for Abrams’ One Georgia leadership committee during Abrams’ last unsuccessful bid for Governor of Georgia, defended anti-police protestors and the chaos that they unleashed.

“You cannot commit violence against a window or a car. Killing a human? Now that, that is violence,” Pyle tweeted over the weekend. “Shame on Atlanta’s leaders who fall into the same tired path of protecting property while our people are murdered by their police.”

Pyle’s tweet comes after a protest in Atlanta that sparked riots, where activists threw rocks and sparked fireworks outside of the Atlanta Police Foundation’s building. The protestors shattered windows of vehicles, lit a police car on fire, and sprayed graffiti. Six protestors were arrested and charged with eight misdemeanors and felony charges. Those charges include domestic terrorism. One suspect was denied bond, while two others were able to post a $355,000 bond.

Protestors were demonstrating after Manuel Esteban Paez Teran was killed by police after allegedly firing a gun at a police officer at the site of the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center.

WSWS reports “The massive 85-acre, $90 million police training complex has been dubbed “Cop City” by its opponents. In addition to the clearing of acres of public forest, protesters and opponents of the training complex, which includes a majority of local residents, have pointed out that the facility will be used to practice “urban warfare” against the working class.

Fox News reports that “The environmental activist reportedly identified as a non-binary person who went by the name Tortuguita (“little turtle” in Spanish) and used they/it pronouns.”

“An individual, without warning, shot a Georgia State Patrol trooper,” Georgia Bureau of Investigations’ Michael Register said.
