Soros Prosecutors Keep Losing Elections as Americans Become Fed Up With Rising Crime

Prosecutors in various U.S. cities who have received support from political action committees funded by George Soros are facing electoral losses and recalls amid ongoing crime issues, the Daily Caller reports.

In recent months, the district attorney in Portland lost his reelection bid, while the district attorney in Los Angeles faces long odds for reelection. These prosecutors, who received campaign contributions from Soros-backed political action committees, reflect a broader pattern of challenges faced by prosecutors across the country that the left-wing billionaire has supported as crime continues to affect American cities, the outlet said.

In recent years, voters have rejected Soros-backed district attorneys in Loudoun County, Virginia, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and San Francisco. Additionally, St. Louis prosecutor Kim Gardner resigned in 2023 to avoid removal by Missouri’s attorney general.

“Local prosecutor races are the most important races that nobody paid attention to until George Soros exploited the system by electing radical, progressive prosecutors who had no intention of enforcing our laws,” Protecting Americans Action Fund Executive Director Ada Furciniti told the Daily Caller.

Protecting Americans Action Fund is a political action committee founded by Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares. Its primary aim is to defeat liberal prosecutors across the country.

“With crime rising in our cities, even liberal communities have had enough,” Furciniti added. “The realization that soft-on-crime policies are harmful to these communities has contributed to Protecting Americans Action Fund’s success in defeating Soros-supported candidates and electing individuals who enforce our laws and stand with victims instead of acting as de-facto defense attorneys.”

Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt, whose jurisdiction includes Portland, was the latest casualty among Soros-backed prosecutors. Schmidt lost his reelection bid on Tuesday to a former Republican who vowed tougher enforcement on drug crimes, among other issues.

Schmidt, who received $213,000 in donations linked to George Soros for his reelection campaign, oversaw a significant rise in crime in Portland. During the 2020 riots following George Floyd’s death, Schmidt declined to prosecute protesters arrested for trespassing, disorderly conduct, or interfering with a police officer, according to the Associated Press.

Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price, whose jurisdiction includes the city of Oakland, Calif., could be among the next Soros-backed prosecutors to be removed, the DC reported.

In April, organizers seeking to remove Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price from office gathered enough signatures to hold a recall election, according to the Alameda County Registrar of Voters. Local activists accused Price of contributing to a rise in local crime by prioritizing the interests of criminals over those of victims, the DC noted.

After Price took office as Alameda County District Attorney in January 2023, crime rates rose significantly, especially in Oakland. According to police data, violent crime in Oakland increased by 21% during Price’s first ten months in office.

She first ran for the office in 2018, when a Soros-linked PAC donated $700,000 to her campaign. She lost but ran again in 2022 and won; the DC said Soros did not appear to have donated to her ’22 victory.

Polling indicates that Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon, a former L.A.P.D. officer and another prosecutor supported by Soros, may also be on the way out. An April poll shows challenger Nathan Hochman leading Gascon by more than 20%.
