Oklahoma Republican Sen. James Lankford believes that the pardon of Hunter Biden by his dad, President Joe Biden, proves that there are more crimes committed by the president’s son that are still not known.
He appeared on Newsmax, where he addressed the pardon and said that it proved more than the many investigations into the president’s son.
“That tells us there’s a lot more there. What that actually means is that there’s even more out there now. President Biden, for months, has been saying he’s going to honor the judicial process and that this is not political. Now, suddenly, he sounds like President Trump, claiming that the Department of Justice has a political bias,” the senator said.
“After months of accusing President Trump of undermining our judicial system, President Biden steps forward and says, “Hey, it’s unjust,” and pardons his son—not just for the crimes he’s already convicted of. People can now see he’s issued a blanket pardon for everything, including any future crimes that might come to light. This is unprecedented. We haven’t seen a pardon like this since Gerald Ford pardoned Richard Nixon, effectively setting aside all potential crimes. Now, President Biden is doing the same for his son, setting a new precedent for how pardons might be handled in the future,” Lankford added.
“We’ve heard from many of your Democrat colleagues who say this was not a good move—they’re not pleased with it. What does that tell you about this?” the host asked.
“First, it tells me no one believed President Biden for months when he said he wasn’t going to pardon Hunter. Second, for those who did believe him, they’re now disappointed, realizing he wasn’t telling the truth. Third, this raises questions about how Democrats in the future will address this. President Trump said there were problems in the Department of Justice, and now President Biden is saying the same thing,” the senator said.
“So, when President Trump brings in new people, starts cleaning house, and says, “Let’s respect the agents in the field doing their job, but let’s remove the bureaucrats in Washington who are politicizing this,” it will carry even more weight. Let’s let law enforcement professionals in the FBI and other agencies actually do their jobs without political interference,” he said.
