The Democrat-led Jan. 6 Committee late Monday released snippets of text messages to and from former chief of staff Mark Meadows about the incident that took place at the U.S. Capitol Building that.

It’s likely the committee did that because Meadows, who had initially agreed to cooperate with the panel, changed course and instead decided to claim executive privilege and let the chips fall where they may.

Those chickens may come home to roost: In response, Nancy Pelosi called lawmakers back into session so they could vote out a contempt of Congress resolution that we’re certain Joe Biden’s Justice Department will eagerly pursue.

Here’s a little taste of what the panel released:

Reports like that one stem from a ‘dramatic reading’ of some of the texts that were sent to Meadows.

But in reality, the text messages show exactly the opposite of what the committee’s two anti-Trump Republicans — Reps. Liz Cheney (Wyoming) and Adam Kinzinger (Illinois) — and the majority Democrats say they indicate, as The Federalist’s Mollie Hemingway so expertly pointed out:

“I *love* how last night’s big coordinated-with-media reveal was that there was definitely no insurrection, but there were people texting POTUS folks saying ‘this is bad, say something.’ And then POTUS saying something (and getting banned). Some real Columbos up there on the Hill,” Hemingway continued, referencing a 1970s-era detective show starring actor Peter Falk.

Mind you, Democrats are not saying that’s what just happened — but it is what happened.

“Democrats have gone from ‘grand insurrection conspiracy requiring us to violate civil liberties of peaceful Americans, seize private communiques, persecute people for 1st Amendment-protected activities, etc.’ to ‘no insurrection conspiracy and here are some texts proving that,'” The Federalist senior editor continued.

Former George W. Bush White House press secretary Ari Fleischer made similar observations.

During an interview on Newsmax, Meadows said the committee “leaked” the text messages to push a false narrative and attack Donald Trump.

“We’ve tried very hard, in [a] very transparent and accommodating way, to share non-privileged information,” Meadows said. “And what we found out tonight is that not only did that just get disregarded, but then they tried to weaponize text messages, selectively leaked them, to put out a narrative, quite frankly, that the president didn’t act.

“And I can tell you this: The president did act,” Meadows added.
