A GOP senator has revealed whistleblower claims that the Biden-Harris administration may have pressured the Secret Service to restrict former President Donald Trump’s campaign events.
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) alleged that a whistleblower told him the Trump campaign was compelled to cancel a rally in Wisconsin due to being denied essential security resources, raising questions about possible disparities in Secret Service protection for political candidates.
On Tuesday, the Missouri Republican took to social media to share a letter he wrote to Ronald L. Rowe Jr., Acting Director of the U.S. Secret Service. In the letter, Hawley highlighted whistleblower claims that challenge recent assurances from Rowe, who had stated that Trump was receiving the same level of protection as President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
“At your recent press conference on September 20, you stated that former President Trump is receiving ‘the highest level of Secret Service protection’ and ‘he’s getting everything’ that ‘the current president has with respect to Secret Service assets,’” Hawley, who served as Missouri’s attorney general prior to being elected to the U.S. Senate, wrote.
But Secret Service officers reportedly informed the Trump campaign that they could not secure a rally in Wisconsin due to insufficient assets, despite prior assurance, Hawley added.
Hawley noted that just days before the Trump rally was canceled, Vice President Harris successfully held an event in Madison, Wis., with full Secret Service protection.
The discrepancy has sparked concern among critics of the Biden-Harris administration, who suspect potential political interference, and it has led Hawley to demand answers from Rowe, asking if the Secret Service has ever refused to secure campaign events for Biden or Harris, as they allegedly did for Trump.
“Failure to provide protection for a major public event is highly unusual,” Hawley noted, “and a sitting president would never be denied resources in this way.”

The allegations arise at a crucial moment, as Wisconsin is a key battleground state in the upcoming election.
