Democrats are backing a horse with a gimp leg when it comes to the situation in Los Angeles as riots have broken out over Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids.
InsiderAdvantage pollster Matt Towery said that a new poll showed that 59 percent of Americans favored President Donald Trump sending the National Guard in, and that other polls show the same.
This, as Democrats continue to screech that the president is abusing his power.
“Matt, 59-39. Sounds to me like the country gets it, and Gavin is kind of out of touch with the speech that apparently he can’t get on the air properly,” Fox News host Sean Hannity said to start the segment.
“Well, and these aren’t surprising numbers. I talked to several other pollsters who did very well in the last few cycles before I went on tonight. Sean, they have similar numbers when they ask questions about immigration, deportation, who should be deported,” the pollster said.
“Those numbers are all in the 60-plus, almost 80%. Rasmussen had one in which 80% in total said that if you commit a crime, you should be deported and taken out of the country. So I’m not really surprised by these numbers,” Towery said.
“What I think I can explain this whole thing with Gavin Newsom, because if you look inside the internals of our poll, 88% of Republicans say they favor what Trump is doing. 56% of independents, and I think that’ll be growing with all these antics continuing, say they support what Trump is doing. But only 37% of Democrats,” he added.
“Two things to note. Gavin Newsom is auditioning to be the Democratic nominee, just like George McGovern did in 1972. He’ll win the battle and lose the war if they stay on this issue the way they did,” the pollster said.
“Now, you note very cleverly in his statement, he said, well, we’ve arrested 200 people, no one’s going to get away with a crime in this state or this city. Well, in reality, that’s not the truth. None of this would have happened if Trump hadn’t sent his National Guard there in the first place. No one was doing a thing. And so I think that Newsom is winning the battle, but not the war,” he concluded.
