‘Planned Parenthood Insurrectionists’: Pro-Abortion Protestors Invade Wisconsin Capitol

A large group of pro-abortion demonstrators took over the Capitol Building in Madison, Wis., on Wednesday in a manner that reminded some of an “insurrection” on par with the Jan. 6 incident at the U.S. Capitol Building.
The protesters took over the building as the GOP-controlled legislature was preparing to uphold a pro-life law that is scheduled to take effect if the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade and returns the matter to individual states.
Gov. Tony Evers, a Democrat, signed an executive order this month that called for a special session to repeal a 173-year-old ban on abortion, The Cap Times reported, adding, “While the governor has the authority to call lawmakers into a special session, lawmakers are not obligated to take action on any bills.”
“Whose choice? Our choice!” hundreds of protesters chanted inside the Capitol rotunda, protesting the GOP’s expected refusal to reverse the ban. “If we don’t get it, shut it down! If we don’t get it, shut it down! If we don’t get it, shut it down!”
“The people of Wisconsin support access to abortion! Our legislators need to listen and pass the Abortion Rights Preservation Act!” Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin tweeted Wednesday, promoting a video of the protest, The Daily Wire reported.
The Supreme Court issued four opinions on Thursday, but not the highly anticipated ruling involving Roe. The decisions included upholding a North Carolina voter ID law and striking down a restrictive New York law severely limiting concealed carry of firearms in the state, the first major Second Amendment ruling in more than a decade.
Several protesters were wearing Planned Parenthood gear and logos.

Human Rights editor Jack Posobiec called the protesters as “insurrectionists,” a term used to describe supporters of former President Donald Trump who breached the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, to protest the 2020 general election.
“Planned Parenthood insurrectionists scream inside Wisconsin state capital as GOP upholds 173 year-old law criminalizing abortion,” Posobiec captioned video of the protest.
Meanwhile, The Cap Times’ correspondent Jessie Opoien covered the protest in-person and referred to the protesters as “Planned Parenthood/abortion access supporters.”

The Daily Wire adds:
Despite pressure from loud protesters inside the Capitol, the Republicans in the Senate and Assembly quickly gaveled in and out of Evers’ special session without taking votes to repeal the state’s abortion ban.
CBS 58 News reporter Emilee Fannon posted video from the quick sessions, noting, “Republicans [sic] inaction means if Roe is overturned, nearly all abortions will become illegal in Wisconsin.”
The Assembly has also gaveled in/out.

Since a draft opinion regarding Roe v. Wade was leaked in early May, sometimes-violent pro-abortion protests have sprung up throughout the country.
The Daily Wire reported last week that the FBI is “investigating a series of attacks and threats targeting pregnancy resource centers and faith-based organizations across the country.”
“The FBI takes all threats seriously and we continue to work closely with our law enforcement partners and will remain vigilant to protect our communities,” an FBI spokesperson told the outlet.
“We would like to remind members of the public that if they observe anything suspicious or have information about potential threats to report it to law enforcement immediately, call their local FBI field office, or submit a tip to tips.fbi.gov,” the spokesperson added.
