An Ohio man has been arrested and charged after weapons were found in his car and at his room in Chicago Trump Tower.
Brandon Peck, 21, from Oakwood, Ohio, was apprehended on Tuesday night after an employee of Trump Tower employee noticed that he firearms on display in his room which promoted a swift response for the Chicago police who sent in SWAT teams, Fox 32 reported.
He informed authorities that he had travelled with his mother and stepfather for a doctor’s appointment but did not know the appointment’s time and place.
He did admit to having the firearms in his hotel room and another in his car.
When police searched the room they found a Bear Creek Arsenal 10mm rifle, a semi-automatic Ruger, several magazines in a duffel bag, ammunition and a firearm frame.
In the suspect’s vehicle police discovered a black rifle bag, a black scope, a semi-automatic SIG Sauer and additional magazines with live rounds.
The suspect informed officers that he had recently purchased the weapons.
He was charged with two felony counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon for possessing loaded firearms without a concealed carry license or FOID card and a citation for having high-capacity magazines and metal-piercing bullets.
Former President Donald Trump was subjected to two assassination attempts in recent months and has recently revealed details on the “Flagrant” podcast about the one in Butler, Pennsylvania where he was shot in the ear.
“So you have this shooter, and you have another shooter, right?” Trump began, addressing podcast host Andrew Schulz. “This shooter had three cell phones… The FBI’s never gotten them opened!”
Trump responded by providing some details about the phones discovered in the shooter’s possession, alleging that the FBI has not yet investigated foreign-based applications purportedly installed on the devices.
The GOP nominee suggested that some of these apps could be linked to hostile foreign powers, such as Iran, which he has previously accused of conspiring against him.
“They haven’t opened them, and they’re foreign-based,” Trump said. “You hear all about Iran. I was rough with Iran, but I want to stop all the killing.” Trump alluded to his past dealings with Iran as a reason the nation may have taken a hostile stance towards him.
“Supposedly, they have a hit on me,” he said, implying that his tough policies against the Iranian regime could have fueled their motivation. The FBI’s handling of the evidence has heavily scrutinized since Trump’s near-death experience. “Why wouldn’t you open them?” Trump asked.
