Former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley has responded to the news that President-elect Donald Trump will not add her to his administration.
“I was proud to work with President Trump defending America at the United Nations. I wish him, and all who serve, great success in moving us forward to a stronger, safer America over the next four years,” she said on X, formerly Twitter, in response to the president-elect’s TruthSocial post where he explained she and Mike Pompeo would not be a part of his new administration.
“I will not be inviting former Ambassador Nikki Haley, or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, to join the Trump Administration, which is currently in formation,” the president-elect posted on Truth Social early Saturday evening.
That said, he also wrote that he “very much enjoyed and appreciated working with them previously, and would like to thank them for their service to our Country.” He added: “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
On her Sirius XM radio show, “Nikki Haley Live,” the former South Carolina governor said that she made it known that she was not looking for a place in the president-elect’s new administration.
On the show, Haley said that she had spoken with Steve Witkoff, who has been tapped to be Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East, about creating a “truce” between the two politicians after what was a tumultuous Republican primary contest.
“I told him at the time, there was no truce needed, that I had — that Trump had my support, there was no issues on my end,” the former ambassador said of her conversation with him.
“And to that point, he was like, ‘What do you want? Tell me what you want. Is there anything you want?’ And I said, ‘There’s nothing I want.’ And there wasn’t anything I wanted,” she said.
