A recent survey conducted by USA Today and Suffolk University shows what should be obvious: that a significant majority of Democrats planning to vote in the 2024 primary election want to see President Biden engage in debates with opponents in his party.
The survey indicates that among the 80% of Democrats advocating for primary debates in this election cycle leading up to 2024, a significant 72% express their support for Biden’s re-nomination, Fox News Digital writes.
David Paleologos, the director of Suffolk’s Political Research Center, emphasized the significance of primary debates, stating, “The decision not to debate is ignoring the 82% of women, 84% of union households, 86% of independents, and 90% of young voters who are not only planning to vote in their state’s Democratic primary or caucus next year but also would like to see a series of Democratic primary debates.”

Despite glaring concerns regarding the strength of Biden’s reelection campaign, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) declared that no debates would be held before the Democratic presidential primary election.
When asked about their preferred nominee for 2024, 58% of Democrats expressed their desire to see Biden on the ticket.
Robert F. Kennedy garnered support from 15% of respondents, while Marianne Williamson was the choice of 6% of Democratic participants. A notable 21% remain undecided.
While usually, incumbent presidents to abstain from participating in primary debates, Williamson, one of Biden’s challengers, urged the DNC to break away from tradition and organize a debate for the sake of democracy.
Williamson emphasized the importance of allowing people to hear from candidates with diverse ideas, asserting, “This is not a time in our history for people to acquiesce to any form of control over things that will affect our lives and the lives of our children.”
She urged the Democratic Party to permit President Biden to debate his opponents, highlighting that the fate of democracy hangs in the balance and that more democracy is needed to safeguard it.
RFK Jr extended an invitation to President Biden for a respectful and transparent debate as well.
The USA Today/Suffolk University poll surveyed 293 registered Democratic voters from June 5th through 7th and carries a margin of error of plus or minus 5.7 percentage points.
