A recent poll indicates that most men favor Donald Trump in the lead-up to the 2024 election, while most women support Kamala Harris. This marks a shift from polling data collected before the Democratic National Convention, where Harris had a slight lead among both groups.

The ABC News/Ipsos poll, released Sunday, shows that 51 percent of American men back Trump, whereas 46 percent would vote for Harris. Among women, 54 percent support Harris, while 41 percent would choose Trump.

Before the Democratic National Convention, Harris held a six-point lead over Trump among women (51-45 percent) and a three-point lead among men (49-46 percent).

White men and women are key demographics driving this shift. Among white women, Trump previously trailed by 13 points pre-convention but now leads Harris by 2 points. Meanwhile, Trump’s lead among white men has grown from 13 points to 21 points since the convention.

Harris has not experienced a post-DNC polling surge. In the most recent poll, Harris received 50 percent support, compared to Trump’s 46 percent. This is similar to an August 13 poll, just days before the DNC, where Harris received 50 percent and Trump had 45 percent.

Conducted between August 23 and 27, the poll surveyed 2,496 American adults and has a margin of error of 2 percent.

Trump is more trusted than Harris on issues such as the economy (46-38 percent), the border crisis (45-36 percent), inflation (44-36 percent), and the Israel-Hamas war (40-33 percent). Harris, however, is more trusted on topics like healthcare (45-35 percent), abortion (47-31 percent), and gun violence (42-36 percent). On crime and safety, the two are tied at 41 percent, with more respondents “strongly” trusting Trump over Harris (30-25 percent).
