An Illinois school outside of Chicago fired a newly-hired elementary teacher after parents complained about social media posts endorsing Satan, and disclosing a history of “psychosis and mania” leading to “violent” actions.
The Homer Community Consolidated School District 33C Board made the decision to dismiss the art teacher following a special board meeting that saw the attendance of numerous parents, Fox News reports.
The teacher, identified by sources as Kris Martin, was reportedly hired earlier this year to serve at four elementary schools within the district, situated about 30 miles from Chicago.
The controversy ignited when screenshots of the teacher’s purported social media posts began circulating, capturing attention on platforms like the popular “Libs of TikTok” account.
Alleged posts highlighted phrases such as “I HAVE BI POLAR 1 DISORDER WITH MANIA AND PSYCHOSIS!” along with admissions of past violent actions during bouts of psychosis. The teacher’s support for satanism and messages like “Kill the Poor” and “Love the Devil Back” also surfaced, along with an image of an upside-down black American flag reading, “F— the police.”

Parents expressed concern about the teacher’s suitability for the role, emphasizing that someone who allegedly embraces satanism and has confessed to “violent” behavior should not be entrusted with educating children. “Social media is a public forum. If this person is saying and posting this publicly, what will he do behind closed doors with our children?” one parent inquired.

The school board promptly responded to the community’s concerns by voting to terminate the teacher’s employment at the Sunday meeting.
In an official statement, the board acknowledged that while their vetting process for new hires includes background checks, it isn’t infallible.
The statement read, “Though extraordinarily rare, there are times that process may not be flawless. However, when additional information that is legally relevant to an individual’s ability to work safely and successfully in the district does come to our attention, we take the time to consider that information and then take appropriate action.”
