FOX News contributor Juan Williams believes that the crushing defeat suffered by Vice President Kamala Harris at the hands of President-elect Donald Trump could be much more severe than it appears.
The Democrat said the potential exists for this defeat to be the end of the Democrat party as a national power as voters could simply “walk away” and never come back.
“Well, right now, I think the party, the Democratic Party, is sort of disappointed and despairing. They don’t have a lot of energy, but for, I mean, from their perspective, from the Democratic perspective, it’s not about, like, clutching your pearls and worrying. It’s hair on fire, Anita,” Williams began.
“When they look at the prospect of tariffs driving up prices, mass deportation, the cabinet nominees, you know, one of whom’s already been pushed out over a sex scandal, and they’re like, oh, my God. So they don’t know what to do. But I think Julian’s point is very much to be taken to heart, which is you’ve got to be doing more than just despairing,” he said.
“You’ve got to start getting active and think about how you can reach out to American voters effectively for the ’26 midterms. Because right now, with President-elect Trump in office, the potential there is for the Democrats to just walk away and never be a factor again,” he added.
The Julian he was referring to was Democratic strategist Julian Epstein who said that the Democrats are hamstrung by being “woke.”
“It’s a party of wokeness and it’s a party of moral condescension. So on, you know, your previous segment where you’re talking about immigration, what the left has done is they have said to people, if you disagree with us on open borders, then you’re a bad person,” Epstein said in the previous segment on Fox News.
“And what that has done is it has caused the left to shut its ears and to stop listening to people. And it’s made it a lot dumber. It makes them feel good amongst themselves. It helps them achieve social status amongst fellow progressives,” the strategist said.
“I think, as I said, the candidates were wrong. And I think that the Democrats are going to have to do things like going on Joe Rogan’s podcast. The fact that you had a few woke staffers inside the Harris campaign saying it might offend fellow progressives going on is lunacy,” added Epstein.
