2016 Hillary Clinton campaign manager and current Senior Advisor to Joe Biden on Clean Energy Innovation John Podesta called the president’s $739-billion Inflation Reduction Act the “most significant climate legislation that’s ever passed in US history.”
“The IRA, the inflation Reduction Act is the largest and most significant piece of clean energy legislation,” Podesta said. “It’s estimated to be about $370 billion over 10 years. It’s transformative and attacking all the sectors of the economy that are involved in emissions, causing climate change, clean power, clean buildings, clean transportation, clean manufacturing.”

Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act is a $739 billion spending plan that passed in August. It seeks to tackle inflation and climate change, with the bill having passed along party lines. Vice President Kamala Harris casted the tie-breaking vote.
“We’ve seen a renaissance in manufacturing already as a result of the anticipation,” he continued.
“There’s been over $200 billion of announced investment in electric vehicle batteries alone,” Podesta continued. “And these investments are taking place all across the country. From Georgia and Alabama to Michigan, Ohio, to upstate New York to California and Nevada. This really is significant and transformative and I think we’ll reach every corner of the United States.”
“President Biden is committed to building a clean energy economy that works for all Americans and expands good-paying jobs, especially to those communities that have been left out and left behind,” Podesta had previously said. “These two important Inflation Reduction Act programs will help lower energy costs for low-income families, expand access to clean energy solutions, and accelerate investments in manufacturing, particularly in traditional energy communities, that are crucial to advancing U.S. energy security.”
