Two illegal immigrants have been charged with the murder of a 63-year-old man who was discovered tied up inside his Chicago home late Sunday. The same day, a major immigration enforcement operation led by U.S. border czar Tom Homan and the Justice Department was carried out in the city, sources told Fox News.
Police found the victim, George Levin, with duct tape around his face and mouth inside his Norwood Park residence. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office later determined that Levin died from multiple injuries caused by an assault, ruling his death a homicide.
Illegal Immigrant Suspects Identified
According to multiple Chicago police sources, the two suspects now in custody are illegal immigrants, one from Venezuela and the other from Ecuador. A top U.S. official confirmed to Fox News that both men crossed into the U.S. through Texas in the summer of 2023.
Authorities identified the suspects as:
- Geiderwuin Bello Morales, 21
- Jefferson Ubilla-Delgado, 29
Both men have been charged with murder and robbery of a victim who was handicapped or over 60 years old. They are expected to appear in court on Saturday.
Ubilla-Delgado was arrested on Wednesday, while Morales was taken into custody on Thursday. Fox News Digital has contacted U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for further information.
Possible Targeted Robbery Through Dating App
Sources told Fox News that Levin may have met the suspects through a gay dating app, suggesting that the crime could have been a targeted robbery. The suspects allegedly stole items from him during their encounter.
One of the suspects had already been arrested in Chicago on January 12 for allegedly attempting to lure children, sources said. However, a police report indicates that he was released just one day later.
Levin lived in the lower level of a home he shared with his sister in Norwood Park, a traditionally quiet neighborhood known for being home to many law enforcement officers and city workers.
On the same day as Levin’s murder, Tom Homan oversaw a targeted immigration enforcement operation in Chicago, leading to the arrests of convicted murderers, aggravated sex offenders, and members of the notorious Tren de Aragua gang.
