A Mexican national accused of murder has been deported from the United States after living in the country illegally for years, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed Wednesday.
Jesus Vazquez Daniel, 59, was removed from the country on May 22 and handed over to Mexican authorities at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge Port of Entry in Laredo, Texas. He had been wanted in Mexico since 2004 for allegedly killing another Mexican national in Hidalgo on October 1 of that year, says ICE.
“For the past 20 years, this accused murderer evaded authorities while the family of his alleged victim was forced to wait patiently praying that justice might one day be served,” said ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Houston Field Office Director Bret Bradford. “Thanks to outstanding teamwork and unyielding persistence by ICE officers from the Dallas and Houston field offices, that wait has finally come to an end.”
Vazquez entered the U.S. unlawfully at an unknown time and location. ICE said he was living in Texas under the radar for years before authorities received a tip last July.
On July 18, 2024, ERO Dallas alerted ERO Houston about a possible match for Vazquez living in the Hillsboro area. Officers from ERO Houston’s Waco office followed up and confirmed both his identity and that he had an active warrant in Mexico.
On February 2, ICE agents arrested Vazquez in Hillsboro with help from the Hill County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. He was taken to the Montgomery Processing Center the following day.
Vazquez was placed in immigration proceedings and remained in ICE custody until May 13, when an immigration judge with the Justice Department’s Executive Office for Immigration Review ordered him removed to Mexico.
