A Mexican national with a history of illegal entry and child exploitation convictions has been deported from the United States for the third time, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Oscar Lopez Delira, 47, was removed to Mexico on May 27 following his most recent conviction for illegal reentry. He was transferred from the Beaumont Federal Correctional Institution to ICE custody on May 23 and deported four days later via the Laredo Port of Entry.
Lopez had reentered the U.S. illegally on February 11, 2024, near Hidalgo, Texas. U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested him, and he was charged and later convicted of illegal reentry on July 1, 2024. He received an 18-month prison sentence.
Lopez’s criminal record in the U.S. includes two felony convictions for sexually exploiting a minor, handed down on March 20, 2017. Those charges stemmed from his August 25, 2015, arrest in Carrollton, Texas. After serving his sentence, he was transferred to ICE custody on August 23, 2019. A federal immigration judge ordered his removal to Mexico on September 10 of that year, and he was deported on September 12.
His first known deportation took place on January 2, 2001, after he was arrested by ICE in Dallas. The agency said his original entry into the U.S. occurred at an unknown time and location.
“For far too long, dangerous criminal aliens like this individual have been able to easily circumvent our nation’s laws to illegally enter the country only to go on and victimize innocent and law-abiding residents,” said ICE Enforcement and Removal Operation Houston Field Office Director Bret Bradford. “In response, ICE is working daily with our federal, state and local law enforcement partners to restore integrity to our nation’s laws and public safety to our communities.”
Lopez was returned to Mexico through the same port of entry used in his 2019 deportation.
