Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, is facing a lawsuit filed by the mother of one of his children, Lunden Roberts, in an Arkansas court for child support. Roberts has accused Biden of hiding financial assets, including profit from his work as an artist. Hunter Biden claimed in September that he had a substantial change to his income that prevented him from honoring his child support payments. Roberts’ lawyer, Clinton Lancaster, has said that it was “inappropriate and unjust” that Biden had been withholding his paternity payments.
Biden initially denied paternity until a DNA test proved he was the father in 2019, leading to a settlement with his baby’s mother for $2.5 million in 2020. Biden agreed to pay child support as part of the settlement. The lawsuit may force Hunter Biden to reveal who has been buying his artwork as Biden’s paintings have reportedly sold for as much as $500,000. Lancaster said in a court filing, “The plaintiff asked for detailed information about the defendant’s works of ‘art’ and the purchasers of the same.”
Roberts, a former stripper, and Biden met and conceived their daughter, Navv Joan Roberts, who is now four years old, while Biden was in a relationship with his sister-in-law, Beau’s wife. Biden has never met Navv. In Hunter Biden’s 2021 memoir, Beautiful Things, he said he was so distraught and in a “rampage” after divorcing Kathleen Buhle that he was incapable of remembering the multiple women with whom he had sex. “It’s why I would later challenge in court the woman from Arkansas who had a baby in 2018 and claimed the child was mine,” Hunter Biden said. “I had no recollection of our encounter. That’s how little connection I had with anyone.”
Hunter Biden missed multiple deadlines to turn over documents related to the case, and his appearance in the court was ordered by Judge Holly Meyer. In January, Biden requested that a judge deny Roberts’ request to give their daughter Navy the last name of Biden. The case is ongoing, and Hunter Biden has not released any official statement regarding the matter.
