There is a reason that the Democrat presidential nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris has avoided interviews and press conferences like Superman avoids Kryptonite.
And that reason is so often sounds like a buffoon when answering unscripted questions.
That was apparent in her first interview since the joint interview she had with her vice presidential pick, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, on CNN.
She was asked a simple question during the local television interview that she should have been prepared for, but was apparently not.
She appeared on 6ABC Philadelphia’s Action News and spoke with anchor Brian Taff who questioned her on how she would assist Americans who are struggling to live with the current rates of inflation.
She could have given a direct answer, if she had one, but instead delved into talking about how she is from a “middle class family” and how people in her neighborhood cared about their lawns.
“I’ll start with this. I grew up a middle-class kid. My mother raised my sister and me. She worked very hard, she was able to finally save up enough money to buy our first house when I was a teenager. I grew up in a community of hardworking people, you know, construction workers and nurses and teachers,” the vice president said.
“I tried to explain to some people who may not have had the same experience, you know, a lot of people will relate to this. You know, I grew up in a neighborhood of folks who were very proud of their lawn, you know. And I was raised to believe and to know that all people deserve dignity. And that we as Americans have a beautiful character,” she said.
Eventually she got to her “plan” for “opportunity income” but gave no specifics on how it would work.
“So when I talk about building an opportunity economy, it is very much with the mind of investing in the ambitions and aspirations and the incredible work ethic of the American people and creating opportunity for people, for example, to start a small business,” she said.
