Former White House doctor and Republican Texas Rep. Ronny Jackson is deeply concerned about the cognitive ability of President Joe Biden and is raising concerns.

He was speaking of the recent story by The Wall Street Journal, which detailed the concerns of some elected and formerly elected representatives and senators, mainly Republicans, about the president’s decline, Fox News reported.

“The article’s just documenting what I’ve been saying all along: he’s not fit to be the commander-in-chief,” the representative said to Fox News. “He’s got significant issues. He shouldn’t have the job. You know, it’s a national security issue for us.”

But some of the comments were made by Democrats as The Journal said “Most of those who said Biden performed poorly were Republicans, but some Democrats said that he showed his age in several of the exchanges.”

That led the representative to speculate that Democrats could be working to remove the president from the ballot before the 2024 election.

“I think that the fact that it came out like this and is so well sourced tells me that this might be the left’s first attempt to start laying the groundwork to get rid of him,” he said.

The representative said that he sent five letters to the White House asking the president to take a cognitive test and none of the letters were answered.

“I don’t know if it does any good to send another letter at this point,” he said. “They’ve ignored them all.”

White House spokesman Andrew Bates responded to Jackson’s interview by comparing him to a character from “The Simpsons” who is a bumbling doctor.

“I’d refer Dr. Nick Riviera to what Kevin McCarthy said about negotiating with President Biden in the moment when it was still fresh in his mind: ‘very professional, very smart. Very tough at the same time,” he said.
