Chicago’s reputation for lawlessness grew again over the weekend when a flash mob of around 400 teens ruined an event in a city suburb.
Organizers had planned an armed forces carnival in the Village of Tinley Park that was scheduled for Sunday, but the flash mob put an end to it, reports said.
City officials announced that the Armed Forces Weekend Carnival scheduled for Sunday had been canceled “due to safety concerns stemming from a flash mob incident at Saturday’s event.”
“Police said a group of about 400 teenagers who were responding to a call on social media to form a flash mob gathered at the carnival Saturday evening and began running through the parking lot and fighting with each other in an attempt to cause chaos and disrupt the event,” Tinley Park government officials said in a statement.
The city said one police officer was injured and required treatment at an area hospital before being released.
Organizers went on to say that the event was also canceled after they learned that another flash mob was set to descend on Sunday.
