Veteran Democratic Party strategist James Carville expressed his concerns about the 2024 election during an appearance on MSNBC with Ari Melber, stating that he is “scared to death” about the upcoming vote. He emphasized that the Harris-Walz campaign needs to be “much more aggressive.”
“The only thing I feel is the election is coming November 5, and I’m scared to death,” Carville told the host. “You’re not in a reflective mood?”
Melber then followed up, to which Carville replied, “I’m not in a particularly reflective mood right now. I’m very concerned.”
When asked what Kamala Harris should be doing with less than a month to go before Election Day, the veteran political strategist urged the campaign to up the urgency.
“She doesn’t have a month left. We’ve got 26 days. Today is gone, and you are going to lose another four in a hurricane. Just subtract that. We’re going to get blank on that. So you’re not going to get much out for the next four days,” said Carville.
“And everything kind of shuts down the Saturday before the election. So you’re really probably under 20 days that you have to really get a message out. They need to be sharp. They need to be aggressive. They need to stop answering questions and start asking questions.”
He added, “I think she and the whole campaign needs to be much more aggressive and much less passive than they are.”
While the Democratic Party has generally seen a surge in enthusiasm since President Biden decided to suspend his re-election campaign, Carville has emerged as one of the more skeptical voices among prominent Democrats.
He has also expressed concerns about various aspects of the Harris-Walz campaign’s messaging, particularly their emphasis on January 6.
