President Biden‘s claims that Hunter is innocent have come under intense scrutiny, as Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed U.S. Attorney David Weiss as a special counsel to further investigate Hunter Biden’s legal troubles.

Weiss, the federal prosecutor who has been investigating Hunter Biden’s business dealings and brought charges against him, is now tasked with overseeing the ongoing probe, indicating that the investigation into Hunter Biden is far from over.

“My son did nothing wrong. I did nothing wrong,” Biden said while running for office in 2020. “I carried out the policy of the United States government, which was to root out corruption in Ukraine, and that’s what we should be focusing on.”

Biden told “Late Show” host Stephen Colbert in 2020 that he has “great confidence in our son.”

“I am not concerned about any accusations that have been made against him. It’s used to get to me. I think it’s kind of foul play, but look, it is what it is,” Biden said.

While the Biden administration has consistently stood by Hunter’s innocence, critics view the appointment of Weiss as a potential “coverup.”

Weiss had previously announced a plea agreement for Hunter Biden related to tax evasion charges, which was later rejected by a Trump-appointed U.S. District Court Judge.

Republicans have raised concerns about the integrity of the investigation, with some even suggesting that it could extend to other members of the Biden family, including the president himself.

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and other prominent Republicans have voiced their strong opposition to the special counsel appointment, asserting that the Biden family should not be allowed to profit from any potential wrongdoing.

Despite these growing concerns, President Biden has consistently defended his son, reiterating his confidence in Hunter’s innocence. During the 2020 Democratic presidential primary debate, Biden emphatically stated, “My son did nothing wrong. I did nothing wrong,” and expressed his trust in Hunter’s character.
