Biden Reportedly Upset Over Lack of Recognition as Democratic Party Moves On From Him

A new report reveals that President Biden feels sidelined by the Democratic Party after fully backing Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign. According to an NBC News piece published on Monday, Biden has expressed concerns to his allies that his accomplishments and legacy are being overlooked by the party, especially as Harris works to distinguish herself from his policies.

“President Joe Biden has privately complained to allies that his name and his accomplishments have virtually disappeared from the national conversation and about how quickly the party that he has served for more than five decades appears to have moved on from him,” six individuals familiar with his remarks told NBC.

These sources say Biden has noticed that Harris hasn’t been highlighting his economic achievements in her recent campaign speeches. He feels she should acknowledge the positive impact of his policies while promoting her own ideas.

“Biden has noted at times that Vice President Kamala Harris… hasn’t been mentioning him in her campaign speeches lately, including when she talks about an economy he believes his policies set on a positive trajectory,” NBC reported.

The report also claims that Biden was particularly affected by Harris’ remarks during a recent debate with former President Trump. Harris stated, “Clearly, I am not Joe Biden. And I am certainly not Donald Trump. And what I do offer is a new generation of leadership for our country,” drawing a clear distinction between her and Biden’s policies.

Sources indicate he has told Harris that “the most important thing is that you win” and plans to do whatever he can to help her.

An anonymous senior Harris campaign official echoed this sentiment, explaining, “We have to tell people who she is and what she would do,” adding that there wasn’t much interest in focusing on Biden’s accomplishments during his own campaign, and that remains the case now.

However, White House spokesperson Andrew Bates rejected the claims made in the report. “These uninformed claims are the polar opposite of the truth,” Bates said. He added that Biden is encouraged by the positive response to Harris’ leadership and the future-focused policies she supports.

Though Biden understands the political need for Harris to carve out her own identity, sources say he still feels conflicted about his legacy being overshadowed. One source summarized his emotions, saying, “It’s very complex.”

Another Harris campaign official defended her strategy, stating, “She has to become her own person. She needs to do that to win.”

Despite this, Biden remains confident he could have defeated Trump in the upcoming election if he had stayed in the race. He told the co-hosts of The View last week, “I was confident I would beat Trump — he’s a loser,” and noted he didn’t sense any “overwhelming reluctance” from Democrats regarding his re-election effort.
