Attorney Rips CNN Host In Viral Exchange Over Trans Sports Policy: ‘Who Is ‘Her’?’

California attorney Julie Hamill tore into CNN anchor Brianna Keilar over transgender sports policies when she appeared on the network to discuss the topic.

Hamill, who is the president of the California Justice Center, said that boys competing against girls in sports is not fair and that California needs to comply with federal law via Title IX.

But the anchor kept referring to a boy pretending to be a girl who is dominating girls’ track in the state as “her,” leading to Hamill correcting her again and again.

“What would make this fair for her to compete, for those who are competing against her?” Keilar said of the boy, known as AB Hernandez. “What would that kind of structure in competition look like?”

“Who is ‘her’?” Hamill said to the CNN anchor. “AB Hernandez is a male who identifies as a female. What would be fair is to have Hernandez competing in the male category. It is not fair for the females competing to have to compete with a male.”

Keilar said that President Donald Trump threatening liberal states with withholding their funding would actually hurt female athletes.

“Okay, so in Trump’s federal funding threat — is that something that would hurt all student-athletes who are assigned female at birth,” Keilar asked, using the far-Democratic left’s description of ‘birth gender.’

“Would his federal funding threat hurt athletes?” Hamill responded.

“If the money is taken away,” the anchor said.

“Right, so the law actually says that schools that do not abide [by] Title IX or other federal laws cannot receive federal funds,” Hamill said. “So that’s not Trump’s fault.”

“But you understand, Julie, you understand there’s two views here on Title IX,” the anchor responded. “Not everyone agrees with you. I think we just have to be clear about that. If you are taking away the funds for athletes, student athletes in California, isn’t that going to hurt all of them?”

“Taking away federal funds is going to hurt all California kids, which is why the state of California needs to comply with federal law,” Hamill hit back. “It’s very simple.”

Keilar suggested that the “science” is not “clear” on fairness in sports boys competing against girls.

“Is this a situation where more research might help?” she said.

“Pediatric sex-change procedures are very harmful and they cause life-long damage to children,” Hamill said.

“And this is something that the United States of America needs to examine thoughtfully, and people need to be able to discuss openly without being called bigots and transphobes,” she said.
