A federal grand jury in Ohio has indicted Venezuelan national Anthony Emmanuel Labrador Sierra for allegedly possessing a firearm unlawfully and using fraudulent documents to enroll in Perrysburg High School last year.

The four-count indictment, filed this week in the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Michigan, charges Labrador Sierra, 24, with possession of a firearm by an alien illegally in the U.S., making false statements during the purchase of a firearm, and making or using false documents, according to a Department of Justice news release.

Federal prosecutors say Labrador Sierra submitted a false date of birth to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services while applying for Temporary Protective Status and Employment Authorization Documents in 2024 and 2025.

He also allegedly purchased a Taurus G3C 9mm semiautomatic pistol by falsely claiming on federal ATF forms that he was not a U.S. citizen or national, not unlawfully present in the U.S., and did not hold a nonimmigrant visa.

If convicted, Labrador Sierra could face up to 15 years in prison for illegal possession of a firearm by an alien, 10 years for making false statements during the weapon purchase, and an additional five years for document fraud.

The case builds on a separate county-level fraud investigation. In early January 2024, Perrysburg Local Schools and police detectives, with assistance from U.S. Customs and Border Protection and ICE, uncovered that Labrador Sierra—enrolled using fake documents—was born in 2001, not 2008 as he claimed when registering as an unaccompanied minor under federal and state homeless student enrollment rules.

School officials said he obtained a state driver’s license, Social Security number, TPS status, and was placed with a local guardianship after arriving.

A school statement noted that the guardians reported to the district on May 14 that Labrador Sierra was actually 24. He denied the claim on May 15, despite participating in junior varsity soccer and swimming. He was arrested Tuesday during a traffic stop on Interstate 75.

Department of Homeland Security officials told Fox News that Labrador Sierra had first entered the U.S. in 2019 and has remained here illegally since his visa expired. They also confirmed that his identity includes a variant spelling of his name.

The DOJ statement marks a federal escalation after local authorities flagged his school enrollment and fraudulent identity, now compounded by alleged firearm violations.
