During a recent local school board meeting in Maine, an 11-year-old boy spoke out against a book he claimed was “pornographic” that he was allowed to check out from his school’s library.
Knox Zajac, a sixth-grade student at Windham Middle School in Maine, recently addressed his local school board about a book he found in the school library that contained sexually explicit content, the Daily Caller reported, citing local sources.
According to The Maine Wire, Zajac read aloud from the book, “Nick and Charlie,” written by Alice Oseman, which describes the sexual experimentation of two teenage boys who steal wine from their parents. The incident occurred on Feb. 23, and a video of Zajac’s speech was posted online on Feb. 17.
Wow. An 11-year-old boy named Knox Zajac from Maine confronted his school board by reading them pornographic material found in his middle school.

“This book was on the stand. I would like to read you a page,” Zajac said at the school board meeting.
“My back over my hips. I asked if he should take his clothes off. He was saying yes before I finished my sentence. He’s pulling off my T-Shirt, laughing when I can’t undo his shirt buttons. He’s undoing my belt. I’m reaching into his bedside drawer for a condom,” he said, quoting the book.
Zajac revealed that when he checked out the book, the librarian suggested he read similar books and even offered a graphic novel version, despite the age advisory of 14+.
“When I rented it out and showed my dad it, the librarian asked if I wanted more and if I wanted a graphic novel version,” Zajac said.
“That’s my son, 11 years old and went to his library and found it by the entry door of our library. This is the smut that he is finding, alright? I don’t care whether it’s gay, straight, bisexual, or whatever the terms are for all of this stuff – it doesn’t need to be at our school. It doesn’t need to be at my 11-year-old’s library,” Adam Zajac told the school board, following his son’s speech, according to Fox News.
Although distributing obscene material to children is prohibited by Maine law, there is an exception when the material is distributed at a school to students.
“A lot of parents just don’t know what’s going on in the school. What I don’t understand is how we have books in the middle school library that adults would be fired for having at work, or potentially prosecuted for sharing with children given their pornographic content. It’s smut, really,” Zajac’s father told the outlet.
